What is a Void? The Merriam-Webster dictionary says, “A void is a spot that is empty, contains nothing.” “A void is a place that is deserted, not occupied, or vacant.” “A void is a spot that is without something specific.”
But enough of the technicalities, how does this apply to The Asian Carp Crisis in the fresh water of lake Michigan and the other parts of the Great lakes ? If the advancement of the carp are not stopped there will be a void in the food chain. The void will have a disastrous effect on the economies of many surrounding states. This will be a devastating economic blow to the Surrounding states of Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Snip – Remember the Great Lakes hold 30% of the fresh water on the Planet Earth.
The fishing industry in the State of Illinois has already suffered unparalleled financial damage. This economic wrath will continue to damage an already fragile United States economy. This action will expand to affect the world food supply in the same detrimental manor. I hope this comparison will raise the level of awareness to this crisis. I also hope I can help the U.S. Congress understand the urgency to take drastic actions now, to stop the migration of the Veracious food gorging predators. If the Asian Carp are allowed expand their population and continue to migrate, we are at the beginning of an epoch disaster! This disaster will be comparable to the recent earth quake in Haiti!
Snip - Remember the Asian Carp do not have any predators. This is another reason their population grows so rapidly. This unusually rapid growth will allow them to overtake the natural species that exist in the fresh water of the Great lakes.
Why do I so strongly believe If these fish are not eliminated Not only will this be an epoch disaster in the United States , but will affect the world food supply ?
To make this situation more clear I’m using the 1 to 10 Scale. The number one represents the birth of a species evolving and the number 10 will be reaching full adult maturity. This would be same as a baby born (#1) that lives a long full and healthy life till death (#10).
If the Asian Carp are allowed to get into Lake Michigan they will eat all the algae, plankton and other Micro species that they can. This is just their instinct to survive. The problem is algae, plankton and other Micro-organisms are the main food that is needed for the expansion of the Salmon and Walleye species. Also the Asian Carp multiply faster than other fish in the Great lakes Chain of lakes. They also grow faster than other species in the Great lakes. They grow larger than most other species in Lake Michigan. They will eat much more than other species. They can consume 40% of their body weight in one day. They can grow up to 100 Pounds. Therefore the Asian Carp population will become the dominate species over the very economically important Salmon and walleye species. They will continue to become more dominate in numbers. In other words they are skipping over their purpose in the food chain.
Snip - It was previously reported that, “Asian Carp are migrating because they are Heat Seeking Fish.”
This is not true. They are actually seeking cooler water and migrating northerly because they find more green algae, plankton and comparable sources of food in cooler water. They really don’t consume many fish in the food chain as previously believed. They are actually eliminating the food that other fish species need to survive. This is the Gut of the Asian Carp Crisis!
Anywayz let’s go back to the 1 to 10 Scale. So, how does this fit in with the Asian Carp invasion? For an example the Salmon as a species would not be making it to their full life cycle of a ten. This would leave a void in the range of 2 through 5.
You cannot get to the number 10 without the numbers 2 through 5!
What will this do to the massively valuable salmon population? They will be eliminated. What would this do to the comparable valuable Walleye fish species? They also would be eliminated. What will this do to a 7 Billion dollar sport fishing industry in the great lakes? That industry would also be eliminated. How many jobs would be lost? Many thousands of jobs, and jobs related to the sport fishing industry would be lost. Remember this is a 7 billion dollar annual industry. Is our current economy already in dire trouble because of unemployment? You betcha ! (Sorry, Sara Palin is just too easy to poke fun at).
So how does the 1 to 10 scale or my beginning to end scale apply to the Iraq War.?
Sadly it applies just the same as The Asian Carp Crisis. President Bush decided to start a national aggression of the United Sates of America against Afghanistan and Iraq. He said, “To eliminate the Taliban,” who he blamed for the Attack on New York City, The Twin Towers and The Pentagon Building and their occupants.
Since the Iraqi war began on 3-19-2003 there have been 3479 American young men and women killed in combat. Also another 901 Americans have lost their lives in non combat related deaths. But these later deaths would not have happen if there wasn’t a war going on. These Numbers are current as of writing this hub 3-8-2010. They are another 31,706 American Young men and women officially injured in this war. Most all of the injured younger adults will never lead a productive full life again. What are the results of this?
This leaves a huge void in our American Society as we have known it.
What are the children of these deceased and permanently maimed Young Americans going to do? My heart goes out to every one of them. What about the parents of these young Americans? They aren’t supposed to see their children die before they do. What about their grandparents? Many of the young Americans are even Dying before their grandparents. What About their brothers and Sisters? My heart goes out to all of these people. It just makes my heart so heavy! None of this seems like life should be this way.
In conclusion this is the same as the Asian Carp crisis. A huge void is being created between the numbers 2 through 5. Without 2 through five we cannot get to # 10. I felt the need to apologize for the heaviness of this Hub. But I can’t, because it does exist. But I do express my deepest sympathy to all Americans involved in this crisis who have suffered losses in many ways. And I also Pray for God’s blessings to come down on all of you.

Asian Carp Activity
2-23-2010
Where Did They Come From?
In the 1970’s they were introduced in the Southern States to control algae and improve water quality in fish farm ponds. Water that is in a pond with no inlet or outlet can get stagnant and produce too much algae. This activity can inhibit or stop the healthy growth of fish in a pond. So the fish were imported from Asia and released in fish farm ponds in hopes to balance that environment. In the 1990’s there were many heavy rains that caused these normally closed fish ponds to flood. When they flooded during these periods, the Asian carp escaped from many of the ponds. The flooding allowed them to get into the interior waterways of the United States. Doesn’t this make you wonder what is really going on in The Tennessee River and the Ohio River too? Just take a glance at the globe that you have in your home that you probably rarely look at until you’re thinking about traveling to some exotic country. Well, that’s what I do anywayz. Just locate Lock and Dam number 4, check the latitude and compare to where Chicago Illinois is. Sightings are being reported that far north. Also keep in mind that on the Mississippi River coming upstream these savage fish must somehow navigate through 22 Locks and Dams. The Illinois River only has 7 Locks and Dams to slow their progression north towards The Chicago network of rivers, canals and locks. This is very alarming information, and everyone in our country should be aware and concerned about these fish. They must not be allowed to continue population growth, or their migratory journey. So far our leaders in Washington have allowed this to continue. At least now they are doing studies to see how many are in the Chicago Waterways. But studies won’t stop them. They are literally undermining our ecosystem. The only way to stop them from invading our Great Lakes system is to close the Chicago locks to traffic until they are completely eradicated, as well as any DNA that is in the Waterways!
Where are they now?
Snip- Did you know that the Great lakes hold 30% of the fresh water on the Planet?
Research has proven that Asian Carp are present in the Chicago River and Canal systems. And their presence is currently being denied by the Army Corp of Engineers. When part of the system north of the Army Corps' Electronic fences was poisoned to check the presents of these savage eaters, presence of this egregious predator was found. Studies have also proven that DNA of these predators is already in Lake Michigan. The study was done by the Army Corp. Does that Sound Fishy to you? Have you ever heard that if you see one mouse in your house, there are probably 15 other mice that you aren’t seeing? The Asian carp do not have any known predators. This means, nothing will to eat them! Can you just imagine how quickly they will multiply? This is exactly why the State of Michigan continues to pressure the U.S. Congress to close the locks in the Chicago area to prevent any more of this invasive species from getting into the Great Lake system. The sates of Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are considering similar actions. You might say why are so many other states concerned? They have rivers and lakes that connect to Lake Michigan’s water resources. In the Mississippi River area I think that the States of Iowa and Minnesota must be much more aggressive than they are being currently. I speak from my own experience that I have sighted these veracious bottom feeders’ dozens of times this past summer at the docks in Clinton Iowa. And I’ve also heard them hit the bottom of my own boat. When you are cruising in a 38 foot boat it takes a good size fish to strike the bottom and sound as if you hit a log. The boat weighs 21,600 pounds. It takes 664 horse powers to propel this vessel. These fish have been reported as far north on the Mississippi river as lock and Dam # 4.
Why are they here?
Mainly because to the south of us we have Irresponsible State and Federal Government officials, who have failed to take action to eliminate this invasive species. If they are not stopped, be prepared. It will affect our economy coast to coast. And the Global economy may even be permanently damaged. We just cannot allow this to happen to our environment.
Secondly they are here because they have a remarkable instinct to gorge themselves with food. They will eat most anything in front of their mouths. They can eat about 40% of their body weight in a day. And they will still want more food. They can grow up to weigh a 100 Pounds and up to 4 feet in length. They don’t care if it is another of their species, or some other species. And wouldn’t they just love to get into Lake Michigan? They would just think they’re in Asian Carp Heaven! They would be like kids in a candy store. Luscious, beautiful, salmon awesome tasty and bite size Walleye. Could you imagine this? 7 Billion dollars worth of fish, right in front of their ugly lips. I can’t imagine eating 40% of my own body weight, because then I would weigh, ah whatever.
Who should be responsible to eliminate them?
First, the people who imported an introduced the fish to the United States Ecosystem should be held responsible. Second, the people who allowed the fish to escape allowed them progress up the many rivers and canals must be held accountable for this problem. This could be of unimaginable damage to our environment. It would take generations to rebuild the Great Lakes Ecosystem. But that would not be possible without eradicating the Asian carp first.

No kidding, “Here we go again." 3 days ago the United States Supreme Court ruled that they will NOT get involved in the Asian Carp threat to our ecosystem. The State of Michigan was trying to force Illinois and the City of Chicago to close the Calumet River locks to any traffic. This would hopefully stop the known progression of the pesky carp into the Great Lakes System. Yesterday 1-20-2010, it was announced that the Lake Michigan has already been introduced with the DNA of the Asian Carp. Wow, what a big surprise! Big government has got in the way of a healthy environment.
This reminds me of the current healthcare debates. Our representatives in Washington want to battle over what to do about our current healthcare crisis. Meanwhile we continue to get sick as an American society, and then we go for treatment. Well, here is a novel idea. Why don't we go to and have paid for Wellness care? But no, they want to let the fire start then try to put it out.
Anywaz, I’m open for new ideas. Care to comment?
Thank you for taking time to read my blog I hope you find it usefull.

Asian Carp 1
Asian Carp are most commonly referred to as, Flying Fish. Because when they hear a motor boat in their area they seem to get excited, and will usually jump out of the water about three feet into the air. This action alone can be hazardous. But their presence alone in the aquatic environment is what is much more threatening to our society. They have no predators and they multiply very rapidly. They are a very real threat to upset our eco-system as we know it. We are on the verge of a DISATER OF EPIC PORPOTION that could dwarf the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti last week.
Who would have guessed it? Asian Carp were getting very populated at the Gulf of Mexico. So now the "Aquatic Pest" is now threatening the Great lakes of North America. What next, Boa Constrictor Snakes? Probably! Asian Carp are a species of fish that have no predators. They have migrated as far north as the Chicago Illinois Area, by moving up the Mississippi River to the Illinois River and on to the Chicago Canal. Also at about the same latitude I have seen them myself at the Clinton Iowa area on the Mississippi River. I have heard that the State of Michigan, the state of Ohio, and the state of Indiana are going to or have already filed suits against the State of Illinois to stop the progress of the marine vultures so they won't infest Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes. So far it seems that the only way to assure the public they can't enter the Great Lakes System is to close off the Water Way path which is to close the Chicago Lock System... It appears that only the Army Corp. of Engineers can do this. And what are we waiting for? Oh yea, the almighty American "RED TAPE." So now we have one or two bureaucratic groups arguing with the other... On and on and on. Meanwhile our great American society is on the verge of an EPIC DISASTER that will dwarf the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti last week. Recently the Chicago Canal was poisoned to see how many Asian Carp would be found. They found one lone Carp. This would lead the public to believe that this is no big deal.....I beg to differ! If you see a mouse in your house there is usually 10 more that you don't see, in my opinion. So I think one or more of the species have probably already entered Lake Michigan. But to save what we can we need to IMMEDIATELY, close the Chicago Locks. And then we can deliberate as long as it takes. Come on you fat cat Bureaucrats, Get with reality before it is way too late.
